My baby turns 10 months today. Where did the time go? I asked myself that every month when she turns a month older. At this time last year, i was hugely pregnant struggling with the heat waves. And here i am, a year later with a 10 months baby :)
London manages to fascinate us everyday. Her personality is really emerging now. Most of the times, she is very
social, granting broad smiles to everyone she meets, but she can also be a little shy, turning her face away when well-meaning strangers try to engage her. As i mentioned in previous posts, London no longer charges ahead boldly like before, she now assesses the situation carefully before
going further. We can put her on the bed/sofa, and she would get to the edges, stop, see if she can scoot down with her butt. She will not go head down.
We are trying to teach her to wave good bye. She bangs her hands all the time, and is getting the hang of the wave. It's a combination of: waving, saying "bye bye", and actually leaving her. So i think in the next week or so, she'll master the art of waving good bye. She'll just wave like the queen :)
My mom has taught her to pass objects back and forth with instruction: "give it to me" and put the hand out. She does that quite well and we are very happy with the result. This morning, Deonn laid his shirt on the bed, she took it so fast, he said "give it to me" and she slowly gave the shirt back to him.
Yesterday, we captured her standing on her own on the camera. She's been doing that here and there, but it was never captured or either i saw that or Deonn saw that only.
As far as language comprehensive, London is processing both English and Vietnamese at the same time. I believe that the torrent of words she has been hearing since birth is
beginning to work its magic, although her understanding of words far
outpaces her ability to use them. She definitely understand the differences in our tones, or when we say NO to her. She would try to touch something and would stop if we tell her NO. Her babbling has turned to jabber and
is starting to sound more like real words, phrases, and
sentences. She definitely sounds more like Laila these days. She thinks she's saying something, so we do respond as if she really is! Since she comprehends more from our tone than from our actual words, we do our best to help her differentiate what we are trying to say. If she finishes her plate of food, we will use our high voices to praise "Yay, you are done" That way she can tell that she has pleased us.
Overall, London is an awesome baby and she continues to amaze us everyday :) We love you so much London. Happy 10 months!!!
