That
was also a delayed announcement. We have been expecting baby #2 for
about 6 months now. Yes i'm 24 weeks and time just flew by when you are
having a toddler and expecting at the same time. I was looking back at the beginning of this “baby
Tran-Henderson” blog about 4 years ago and I had so much free time then when I was
pregnant with London. I was writing pretty much every week detailed of my
pregnancy and how the baby was growing.
I do feel a bit of guilt this time around that I don’t even take weekly
pictures nor write weekly blog posts.
This
pregnancy is so much different from the last time, not only because it’s a boy.
Did I already mention that? Deonn was so over the moon when we found out. We found out at about 13 weeks, way earlier
than then normal 20 weeks sonogram appointment. I supposed with new technology
and all, this is the first year we could do DNA testing as early as 10 weeks to
detect abnormalities with the baby and also to find out gender. So when the test result came back and we
spoke to the nurse over the phone, she said everything was great and we are
having a boy, we were both very elated.
Im happy because now we have one of each, but maybe Deonn is happy is
because he really wants to have a boy.
Unlike
London’s pregnancy, I’m the last one in all of my friends to be pregnant this
time around (they all have had babies in the past few years) so it’s bit different to be pregnant by myself. Last
time around, it was like I was in a pack.
Either way, we are very thrilled for the baby’s arrival in February. Yes, it’s a winter baby!

We
are turning the guest’s room into the baby’s room. There will be some challenges since we still
want to fit in the crib and the bed. The
result will have to speak for itself. We
haven’t prepared the room just yet but we will have to, pretty soon. I’m already more than half way so there’s not
much time left.
Let’s
see, I’m almost at 23 weeks so by now the baby is about 11 inches and almost 1
pound, about the size of a papaya or grapefruit.
London
is super enthusiastic about her baby brother.
She talks to my belly every day.
When she wakes up in the morning, she would kiss the belly and say “good
morning, baby”. Before I leave for work,
she would say “have a good day at work with mommy”. She says that after confirming with me “is
baby going to work with you?” At night
time, she would talk to the belly and murmur something (I can’t really hear or
comprehend sometimes). When we picked
our pumpkins couple weeks ago, she got a mini pumpkin for her “baby brother”. I love this whole new experience very much:
expecting while having a toddler, it’s completely different from last
time.
Here
are some pictures at our 20 weeks sonogram appointment. Baby is healthy and growing, according to the
doctor.
